Rules

There are rumors that an 8th Edition of the main Warhammer Rulebook is on its way sometime this summer.  As of right now, this is just a rumor.  Given that it takes quite a bit of time for everyone buy a copy of the rulebook and to adjust to any new rule changes, and considering any rule changes could affect the army (or parts thereof) a player takes, it would be unfair to use any new Main Rulebook at Bayou VII unless at least 2 months time has elapsed since its publication.  It is very unlikely that a new rulebook would be published by the end of May/early June, so it is safe to assume that Bayou Battles VII will be played under the 7th Edition Rules.  Of course, we reserve the right to change our mind on this.

Note on New Armies:

There is always a chance that a new army book will be published prior to August that we do not know about at this time. Any new army book will need to be published and available for sale by itself (i.e. not part of an Army Box or something similar) by July 1st in order to be allowed at Bayou Battles VII.

Special Characters: The Highlander Rule

Special/Named characters are unique individuals in the Warhammer world. As such, the Highlander Rule applies:

There can be only one

The first legal army list submitted with a special/named character will preclude all other players from using that character, once the player's entry fee is paid. If any subsequent lists are submitted with that character they will be returned for revision.  If a player submits a list with a special character, then decides to change the list and remove the character, he/she will forfeit their early list submission bonus points.

Because of the extra time required to fully evaluate a list with a Special/Named Character, particularly those from the latest books with which we are not that familiar, we are requiring that all lists with such characters be submitted early. No Special/Named characters will be accepted if the list is submitted after July 4th.  No exceptions.  In the past, several lists with Named Characters have required revisions, and the earlier deadline will ensure that enough time is allowed for the review process to run its course.

Only Special/Named characters listed in the Official Army books listed above that do not require opponent approval are allowed.  No Special Characters from any other source (namely White Dwarf) are allowed.  Kislev Allied Contingents and Dogs of War units are allowed. This includes those units listed as Dogs of War in the “Warhammer Armies: Ogre Kingdoms” army book.  The Dogs of War and Regiments of Renown rules, which state which armies can field which DOW/RoR can be found here:

Dogs of War (738kb)
Regiments of Reknown (707kb)

Note that Regiments of Renown are also subject to the Highlander Rule above, as they too are unique entities in the Old World.

List Review:

Remember that ALL lists are subject to review (lists due by July 18th), and those lists determined to be grossly unpleasant to play against will be either returned for revision or rejected outright.  It is Bayou Battle’s philosophy that we do not want anyone’s day ruined by having to face an over-the-top, nasty army.  We’d much rather have one person mad at us for not allowing his list than having 5 people mad at us for allowing in an atrocious army that is very unpleasant to play against.  Also, while Army Builder is a great resource, it is NOT always perfect.  If you are using one of the more obscure lists or units, you must have a copy (or photocopy) of the original source material with you.  Should questions arise concerning your army and you are unable to provide the original material, any rulings will automatically go against you!  If you have any doubts on your list, please submit it early and/or contact us first before spending the time and effort to model/assemble/paint it up.
